Hi! I’m excited to nominate Taylor Payne for a Core Contributor role as a Code Contributor to the **edx-platform** repository. **Commitment** : Taylor, a member of the WGU team, has been focused exclusively on the Open edX project since April and will be contributing full-time to the Open edX project. **Caliber:** In that time he’s made [pull requests to various repositories](https://github.com/pulls?q=is%3Apr+author%3Awgu-taylor-payne+user%3Aopenedx+). His code and docs contributions are consistently high-quality. For example: - [edx-platform#37045 : Hoist production settings](https://github.com/openedx/edx-platform/pull/37045) - [edx-platform#36951 : create openedx envs common settings](https://github.com/openedx/edx-platform/pull/36941) - [frontend-platform#809 : Allow customization of external URLs](https://github.com/openedx/frontend-platform/pull/809/files) Through the edx-platform work, he’s developed a strong understanding of its byzantine Django settings structure, and [has spec’ed out a series of work to untangle and simplify it](https://github.com/openedx/edx-platform/issues/37278). The edx-platform repo is complex and sometimes brittle, but Taylor’s work so far convinces me that he is up to the challenge and will think carefully about architecture, performance, and backwards compatibility. **Conduct:** Taylor is a thoughtful code reviewer. He’s been [involved in over 30 PRs](https://github.com/pulls?q=is%3Apr+involves%3Awgu-taylor-payne+user%3Aopenedx+), consistently providing [thorough feedback](https://github.com/openedx/docs.openedx.org/pull/1147#pullrequestreview-2976551283) in a helpful and respectful manner. He also takes the time to make small [docs improvements](https://github.com/openedx/open-edx-proposals/pull/706),[tooling updates](https://github.com/openedx/frontend-platform/pull/819), and [guides](https://discuss.openedx.org/t/debugging-with-visual-studio-code-dev-containers-extension/17013) for the benefit of fellow community members. **Comment Period:** Please provide comments/feedback on Taylor’s nomination before Fri Sep 19. 👍 I’ve been very impressed by Taylor, his reviews on some developer docs PRs for [docs.openedx.org](http://docs.openedx.org) have been very thorough and helpful, and the PRs and issues demonstrated in this nomination show a lot of skill! ---
