# Deprecation/removal: remove unused waffle flag USE\_CERTIFICATE\_AVAILABLE\_DATE

Hi there,

We plan to deprecate and remove the waffle flag `USE_CERTIFICATE_AVAILABLE_DATE`. [#2511](https://github.com/openedx/credentials/pull/2511) removed all functionality that used `USE_CERTIFICATE_AVAILABLE_DATE`, but did not remove the waffle flag. this is just to remove the unused waffle.

The proposed deadline for comments before acceptance is 2025-05-01.

Once the ticket is accepted, removal can happen at any time. If you believe that the endpoint is valuable and wish to make a case for retaining it and taking over its maintainership, please speak up on the issue linked above.

After acceptance, all future notifications around removal will only be posted to the GitHub issue, so be sure to watch that issue if you want further updates.

I think you can safely auto-accept this DEPR if it is just completing a DEPR that we thought was already complete.
