# How can Open edX be integrated with a Student Information Management System (SIMS/SIS)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on an Open edX deployment and I’m looking for guidance on integrating Open edX with a Student Information Management System (SIMS).

Has anyone successfully integrated Open edX with an external SIMS/SIS?

I’m particularly interested in understanding:

- How to synchronize student/user information between Open edX and the SIMS

- How to synchronize course enrollment and unenrollment

- Whether there are existing Open edX APIs, plugins, or integration patterns recommended for this

- How to handle grades, course completion, and certificates between the two systems

- Whether the integration is typically implemented through REST APIs, webhooks, LTI, or another approach

- Any examples or reference implementations would be very helpful.

If you have implemented a similar integration, I would really appreciate hearing about your architecture and experience.
