When I look at the raw HTML for emails sent from within my class I see:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN' 'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd'><html xmlns:fb='http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml' xmlns:og='http://opengraph.org/schema/'>
I don’t want facebook tracking my users (nor should anyone else want that). How can I remove that URL reference from email templates?
I’m not sure how to remove the reference from the template but in this case the URL you’re seeing is just an identifier for the
fb namespace which may (or in your case, may not) be used elsewhere in the email. See this Stack Overflow Discussion for details, but the bottom line is that your browser or email client is not going to treat it as a URL and is not going to send any data to Facebook just because of that line of code. So as far as I can tell, Facebook cannot track you because of this particular reference.
If you see other code to insert their “Like” button or to include an image hosted by Facebook, or anything else like that, perhaps there is some tracking.
