# Palm Release SMTP Settings

Hi,

I am refreshing the Open edX after the Lilac Release. I am trying to configure AWS WorkMail SMTP settings in Palm Release by using the tutor. Following is my set of configurations:

tutor config save   
–set [DEFAULT\_FEEDBACK\_EMAIL=contact@domain.com](mailto:DEFAULT_FEEDBACK_EMAIL=contact@domain.com)   
–set EMAIL\_BACKEND=jango.core.mail.backends.smtp.EmailBackend   
–set EMAIL\_HOST=[smtp.mail.us-east-1.awsapps.com](http://smtp.mail.us-east-1.awsapps.com)   
–set EMAIL\_PORT=465   
–set SMTP\_USE\_SSL=true   
–set EMAIL\_USE\_TLS=false   
–set EMAIL\_HOST\_USER=contact   
–set EMAIL\_HOST\_PASSWORD=Password

sudo tutor local launch

On execution of the above two commands, I am trying to verify whether the SMTP settings are working or not by using the “Forget Password” option from the LMS.

The password reset instructions email is not received. And I have no idea where from I started debugging in the tutor MFE installation.

Please help to solve it.

I don’t have any experience with email-sending and Django, but it looks like there’s a typo here – jango rather than django.

EMAIL\_BACKEND: django.core.mail.backends.smtp.EmailBackend  
RUN\_SMTP: false  
SMTP\_FROM\_EMAIL: [contact@example.com](mailto:contact@example.com)  
SMTP\_HOST: [in-v3.mailjet.com](http://in-v3.mailjet.com)  
SMTP\_PASSWORD: jetmail\_secret\_key  
SMTP\_PORT: 465  
SMTP\_USERNAME: jetmail\_api\_key  
SMTP\_USE\_SSL: true  
SMTP\_USE\_TLS: false

For Gmail:

CONTACT\_EMAIL: [example@gmail.com](mailto:example@gmail.com)  
EMAIL\_BACKEND: django.core.mail.backends.smtp.EmailBackend  
RUN\_SMTP: false  
SMTP\_HOST: [smtp.gmail.com](http://smtp.gmail.com)  
SMTP\_PASSWORD: your-gmail-password  
SMTP\_PORT: 587
