# Updates to the Deprecation Process

tl;dr; The DEPR OEP has been significantly re-written and the process is changing. [Please review and provide feedback](https://github.com/openedx/open-edx-proposals/pull/660).
There is a new version of the Deprecation OEP up for review right now. While making changes to make timelines around deprecation more clear, and better integrate how we use DEPR as a part of maintenance work, the DEPR working group ended up significantly re-working the process to make states more clear. While applying these process changes back to the DEPR OEP, I ended up making significant re-writes and ended up removing a lot of redundant information. The OEP is hopefully a lot shorter and a lot more clear. Please review and provide feedback before we make the update official.
