# What is the right schedule for Koa?

@sambapete I suggest that we move here the conversation about release tags during the testing phase. [Your comment here](https://discuss.openedx.org/t/tagging-releases-useful-or-not/3243/15) clearly emphasized the importance of tags for you during testing. We initially agreed not to use “open-release/koa.alphaX” tags, but we can go back to that decision.

This was a suggestion that @nedbat made [here](https://discuss.openedx.org/t/tagging-releases-useful-or-not/3243/16) (and which blew my mind because I had no idea this was even possible with git). I think this could be a reasonable alternative to pre-release tags, assuming we all agreed on a given date to do our testing. But I also wouldn’t mind resorting to “\*.alphaX” or “\*.rcX” tags again.
