Announcement - v1 Release - Open Source Masterclass (onboarding course to learn to contribute)

A few years ago a few contributors from Open edX, Telecom Paris, OpenStack and Wikipedia created the Open Source Masterclass. It is an onboarding course to learn how to contribute upstream - the idea was to build one good course, shared between different projects like Open edX who need to teach this, instead of each project redeveloping their own course.

And now, the course has reached v1! We would really appreciate feedback, ideas, bug reports. Whether you are already a contributor or want to become one, have a look

I copy the official announcement below:

Open Source Masterclass Launches Free Online Course To Learn How To Contribute

Newly released MOOC provides comprehensive training on Free/Libre Open Source Software contribution, published as a digital common under CC-BY-SA licence

PARIS, March 2026 — A team of free software contributors today announced the launch of Open Source Masterclass, a free online course designed to help programmers learn about Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) and successfully contribute to open source projects. It has been several years in the making.

The course is available now at opensourcemasterclass.org.

About Open Source Masterclass
