Overview

This project proposes removing duplicate configurations from the Studio Advanced Settings page that already exist in Pages & Resources, ensuring a single source of truth and reducing redundancy.

Problem

Several settings are duplicated in both Advanced Settings and Pages & Resources. This duplication creates confusion for course authors, who may not know which location to use, and increases the risk of inconsistent configurations.

Use Cases

  • As a course author, I need to configure settings only once, in the correct place, so I can avoid inconsistencies and confusion.

  • As an instructor, I need to manage course features through a single, reliable interface in order to save time and reduce errors.

Supporting Data

Schema’s analysis identified 5 settings that are currently duplicated in Pages & Resources and Advanced Settings.

  1. Teams configuration

  2. Show calculator

  3. Html textbooks

  4. Disable progress graph

  5. Allow public wiki access

Removing these duplicates from Advanced Settings will:

  • Eliminate redundant configuration options.

  • Reduce authoring confusion by consolidating settings into a single interface.

  • Align with the broader effort to decommission Advanced Settings as a standalone page.
