Enzyme, a tool used throughout Open edX for JavaScript testing, is deprecated and no longer maintained. It will become a blocker for a future, imminent React 18 upgrade, though it’s unclear on this upgrade timeline.
Please read [DEPR]: Enzyme · Issue #195 · openedx/public-engineering · GitHub for more information and to post any questions/comments. The proposed deadline for comments before acceptance is June 16, 2023.
Once the issue is accepted, removal can happen at any time and incrementally. Further updates on the timeline for the future React 18 upgrade will be shared when appropriate to give continued guidance on the priority for Enzyme removal throughout the Open edX platform.
