Numerical Input Problem Limitations

The numerical input box does not allow for the use of characters I need students to enter in an answer like this equation: x^2+y^3=12

Currently it does not allow for signs like =, a comma and mixed fractions. Also curly brackets for set notation {2,3} and the emptyset MathJax character.

Is there a way the problem type’s acceptable answers can be extended course wide? I do not want to do it only per question. I am not part of our technical team, but I need to know what the possibilities are. Perhaps there is something I am missing that can easily implement this.

Hi Roline,

Take a look at MITx grading library. It has lots of useful grader extensions: string, formula, numerical… I hope it helps.
