Here’s what I did to make custom changes in my edx site

  • Created a forked reporitory of edx-platform.
  • Mount this repo to the config.
  • Made some changes and the site would take the effects.

Honestly, i’ve made a lot of changes to my site.
I’m wondering if this is the valid way to customize edx-platform?
Should I create plugins instead?

It works, but it’s definitely not the recommended approach. You will have a lot of trouble upgrading your platform whenever a new release comes out (every six months).
