  • Released Zeitlabs Payment Plugin for Open edX: https://github.com/zeit-labs/zeitlabs-payments/ – the upcoming standard e-commerce replacement.

  • Continuing refinement for the Arabic Open edX translations guide. Useful to be translated in other languages.

  • Little progress on the JSON validation, coming up soon.

BizDev The BizDev WG focused on strengthening the BizDev ↔ Product feedback loop and consolidating client/lost deal insights into product workflows. A proposal was discussed to use Salesforce comments + AI-assisted summaries for safer, consistent trend sharing instead of exposing details in public channels. Key updates also covered the Enterprise Capability Survey, alignment with other working groups (AI, RFPs, Market Alignment), and ongoing partnership and market expansion activities. Build-Test-Release (BTR) The last BTR WG meeting confirmed Teak 2 shipped (Aug 21) and Ulmo’s cut date remains Oct 9, with no concerns raised.Next steps: role recruitment, retro ownership follow-up, and unassigned issue review, with release planning to confirm dates. Core Product The session reviewed Admin Console updates (current vs. future state) and RBAC wireframes, aligning the MVP and technical approach for the Ulmo release. The updated Product Review Process was presented by Mahnoor Sarwat, with next steps to update docs, GitHub forms, and share with the community. Data The session will include a User Groups walkthrough by Maria Grimaldi, covering the Confluence page and open pull requests for openedx-user-groups. It will also feature an update from Ty Hob on Aspects upcoming releases, including the next bug fix release, future work toward a 3.0 release, simplification of the default architecture, replacing event sinks where possible, performance improvements for Ralph, and version bumps for ClickHouse, Superset, Ralph, and Vector. Deprecation On Sept 4, 2025, the team reviewed old TODOs and the DEPR project board. On Aug 21, 2025, the Frontend-base Release Strategy Summit was announced. Frontend The meeting confirmed React Query as the preferred path over Redux, with migrations encouraged but no blocking of ongoing Redux cleanup. Frontend Base (FB) migration will proceed with an operator opt-in per MFE, maintaining both legacy and FB branches for a transition period. Large Instances The meeting covered AWS instance usage shifts, testing of Cypress upstream, and build/deployment improvements with Picasso, Harmony, and Argo integration. Teams are evaluating TypeSense vs. Meilisearch for large-instance search, noting tradeoffs in clustering, memory, and availability. Learning Tools (LTI) The meeting reviewed Open edX as a Platform (consumer), focusing on the ltistore plugin, recent PRs, and next steps to fix bugs, document usage, and align with the LTI roadmap. Future plans include leveraging the learning core for storing LTI data and advancing LTI Advantage support. Maintenance The team reviewed upgrade progress: Node 24 (tickets created, PR #37166 pending merge) and Django 5.2 (on-track, awaiting final edx-platform PR) ahead of the Ulmo release cut (Oct 9). Operator notes and planning for the Ulmo release were shared, along with updates on the Repo Health Dashboard initiative led by Usama Sadiq. Next steps include reviewing the maintainers program, key metrics, and gaps, plus a demo/discussion on adopting the Repo Health Dashboard for the Open edX org. Marketing The upcoming Open edX Meetup will cover UniDigital and Sandbox updates, with registration open for “Transformative Enhancements and Hands-On Exploration”. An external consultant was engaged to refine the go-to-market strategy, and potential 2025 conference participations were discussed (Bett, LT Paris, eLearning Africa, HR Tech Europe). Mobile The group reviewed multi-tenancy/learning academies proofs of concept, featuring tenant selectors, custom branding, and mobile app integration, with an OEP draft under review. Next steps include community review, roadmap planning (dynamic theming, Paragon colors), and revisiting the Confluence proposal for product direction. Translation Language performance declined after the transition from edx-platform to openedx-translations, with machine translations now active for all languages except Portuguese (Portugal).
