We plan to deprecate pre-design-tokens brand packages.
This will happen as MFEs are upgraded to use design tokens. The PRs upgrading MFEs to use design tokens will begin to be merged after the Sumac release is cut.

The timeline on this has been updated. Design tokens will merge to master between the teak cut and the ulmo cut.
Once an exact date for merging design tokens to master has been set, it will be communicated on the DEPR.
Existing brand packages/themes will not work when the design tokens branches are merged.
If you are currently using a brand package, you will need to migrate it to use design tokens in order to upgrade to ulmo.
