I’m excited to introduce the Design Working Group, which is an evolution of the UX/UI subgroup of the Product Working Group. The design working group will focus on building design alignment to improve Open edX, providing design resources/review for other working groups, and helping design core contributors work together. Based on feedback and past requests from UX/UI working group and Product working group members, the design working group will prioritize collaboration across working groups, since design intersects with many other existing groups (including the Paragon, frontend, mobile interface, product, and educator groups).
Please help me improve the Design Working Group by filling out this feedback/scheduling survey! It will only take a few minutes, and I’ll be using this input to plan and improve the working group. If you have agenda items to add to our next meeting, feel free to add them to this placeholder agenda, which will be scheduled based on the survey.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey, and to every UX/UI working group member who reached out to share input that led to this restructuring! Survey highlights so far:
-
WG members are interested in scheduling more meeting types, with open agendas shared earlier. I’ll plan to send out working group agendas farther in advance.
- I’d love to hear more about meeting formats that would help support design efforts across the community or increase cross-WG engagement.
-
Some WG members want increased options for async collaboration. I’ll work on ways to improve communication & engagement between meetings.
-
Schedule overlap continues to be a challenge, but I’m hoping that we can find a combination of times and meeting types that allows most/all working group members to attend.
If you’re in the Open edX Slack, please join the #wg-design channel for regular updates, and please feel free to reach out to me (Sam Daitzman) on the Open edX Slack with any feedback or requests.
