During the investigation of “Inclusion of Social Media Icons in Learning MFE” it has been discovered that having a populated Marketing URL field in the LMS admin panel (LMS/admin/course_overviews/courseoverview/) is essential for displaying these icons. Social media platforms showcase the link specified in the Marketing URL field along with analytical parameters. An example of such a link is https://lms-palm-dev.com/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin. It’s important to note that UTM tags do not modify the content of the destination page.
Proposal: An idea has emerged to introduce a toggle feature (Waffle flag) that, when activated, would automatically assign the marketing_url
variable with a link to the course’s About Page. However, if the Marketing URL field is manually filled in the LMS admin panel, the value manually entered would take precedence.
