Persistent issues with editing TEXT components

Hello everyone.

We are reviewing our course for a new round in September and encountered persistent issues whenever we click on the ‘Edit’ button of a TEXT component. The problems are:

  1. Images and embedded PDFs display as broken links
  2. Upon inspecting the HTML, we noticed that the URLs for the images and PDFs have been duplicated, which results in incorrect URLs that system cannot recognise

We are wondering if edX EDGE is under maintenance or if there is any update on the Editor within TEXT component? Has anyone had the same issue like this? Sorry that I can’t upload a screenshot as I am a new user to this platform. Happy to share more with you and look forward to more discussion on this.

Many thanks!

Hi @mag, welcome to the forum!

Is your finding similar to this?

The recommendation to insert images in text blocks is to upload them as files and reference them by their URL, instead of doing copy-paste.

For PDFs, did you try the PDF XBlock?

Hi @mag and welcome to the forum!

As part of the edge/edX support team at 2U, I’ll encourage you to contact us directly for an edge question. This may be an issue under active investigation and I want to make sure it addresses your specific report if so.

These forums are an awesome resource and I hope you continue to engage with the community here - I can see you’re already getting some of great advice and guidelines on image handling. I also just want to make sure you have our platform-specific support available as well.

Hi @Andres.Aulasneo, thanks for your post. We use URL for images and PDF XBlock too.

Thanks to @jaakana’s suggestion and I have submitted a ticket to the edX support team about the technical problems.
