TL;DR: We propose an MVP of a global notifications admin that allows designated Open edX platform representatives to create and send messages to learners, instructors, and course teams across all instances. Notifications will be managed in the OpenedX.org WordPress admin and delivered to the notifications tray via RSS, with emails sent to users who have opted in. Instance managers can opt out of these notifications for their instance.
OpenCraft will contribute time toward implementing this feature, and we’d love to know if you’re interested in helping out or partially funding the effort as well.
@ali_hugo The meeting was yesterday afternoon, and yes I did get to discuss the proposal with the TOC. It was good to have done this actually, as that highlighted some issues that will require changes. I will be preparing the TOC meeting notes next week and once it has been reviewed by the TOC I’ll publish it, and we can discuss iterating based on it. Some of the TOC members also said they would comment on the proposal, so you might get some info this way in the meantime.
@antoviaque Thanks for sharing the TOC’s feedback. The group gave some helpful insights. I will work on updating the proposal, and share it here as soon as it’s ready.
