[Proposal] PDF XBlock Viewing and Offline Support in Open edX Mobile App

Arizona State University has submitted a new product proposal to enhance the Open edX mobile app with in-app viewing and offline access for PDF XBlocks.

Summary

Today, learners who open PDF XBlocks in the mobile app are redirected to the web interface — a challenge for those with limited or unstable internet connections. This proposal aims to solve that by allowing learners to view and download PDF files directly within the app, much like how videos can currently be downloaded for offline use. The feature would include single-file and bulk download options, and file size indicators for a convenient and intuitive user experience.
