Zoom LTI – All learners joining meeting with the same Zoom account name instead of LMS user name

Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to enable the Live feature using Zoom in Open edX and I’m facing an issue where all learners join the Zoom meeting with the same name.

Environment

  • Open edX Release: Ulmo
  • Tutor Version: 21.0.1
  • Customization: None (clean installation)

What I Did

  1. I followed the official documentation to enable Zoom Live in Open edX:
    Course Live — Latest documentation
  2. I created a Zoom LTI Pro app in my Zoom account and configured the required LTI credentials in Open edX.
  3. I configured Zoom settings in:

Studio → Course → Pages & Resources → Live → Zoom

  1. After configuration, the Live tab appears correctly in the LMS.
  2. I scheduled a meeting from the Live tab.
  3. I enrolled 10 different users in the course.
  4. All enrolled users can:
  • See the Live tab
  • See the scheduled meeting
  • Click Join meeting

Issue

When users click Join meeting, Zoom allows them to join the meeting using the same Zoom account name (the account used to create the LTI Pro app).

As a result:

  • All 10 users join the meeting with the same display name.
  • Instead of their LMS username or email, the meeting shows the Zoom account name.

Additional Configuration

I also enabled sharing PII to LTI components as suggested in the documentation:

Is there any additional configuration required so that:

  • Each learner joins the Zoom meeting with their LMS user name or email, instead of the host Zoom account name?

@Mahendra i taking a wild guess here: Have your tried turning on the toggle named “Enable meeting link to auto login users”? Or the 2 toggles just below it?

Thank you for your response.

As you suggested, I have enabled the following toggles in the Zoom LTI app settings:

  • Enable meeting link to auto login users
  • Enable Auto Login to Zoom via LMS IDP
  • Auto Provision Zoom Users

However, the issue still persists.

I would like to understand whether this is a default behavior/limitation in Open edX or if there might be something missing in my configuration. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
