  • The platform no longer has web_fragments as a package dependency and the repository can be archived! web_fragments has been fully rolled into XBlock, reducing maintenance overhead.

Build-Test-Release (BTR) The Build-Test-Release Working Group focused on completing Verawood release testing, reaching approximately 96% completion while tracking the remaining blockers, most of which are pending backport reviews. The team also confirmed the transition from Cypress to Playwright for end-to-end testing, with the first architecture proposal merged and migration work underway to support Verawood. Governance WG The Contributions Working Group concluded its Spring Cleaning Hackathon, significantly reducing the backlog of open pull requests while engaging 21 contributors in the review effort. The group also revisited the Single Responsible Person Principle (OSPR) proposal, with maintainers reporting that the current process is working well and identifying reviewer availability—not automation—as the primary bottleneck. Core Product The meeting reviewed feedback on the Competency-Based Education (CBE) Rubrics Product Requirements Document, refining requirements and addressing community comments. Frontend The Frontend Working Group finalized key decisions ahead of the frontend-base 1.0 release, confirming that the current configuration precedence will remain unchanged and that existing operator override mechanisms are sufficient. The group also prioritized fixing an avatar rendering regression across microfrontends before proposing an enhanced initials-based fallback, while completing the remaining documentation and configuration cleanup for the upcoming release. Large Instances The Kubernetes & Large/Multi Instances DevOps meeting focused on infrastructure improvements for Open edX deployments, including Traefik adoption as an ingress replacement, ongoing frontend-base and Pixie (next-generation XBlock) developments, and operational enhancements such as CDN integration and Verawood testing.
