Ganesh Shivaji Biradar (@gshivajibiradar-sonata) - Core Contributor Nomination

Hello Everyone! Following the procedure outlined in OEP-54, I would like to nominate myself, Ganesh Shivaji Biradar (@gshivajibiradar-sonata), to become a Core Contributor within the Open edX community.

Rationale

I am a Software Engineer working on the Enterprise team at 2U and have been actively contributing to enterprise-related development and platform enhancements across the Open edX ecosystem. Our team works closely with repositories and services related to enterprise checkout, discovery, integrations, APIs, frontend applications, and backend platform services.

As our team continues moving toward a stronger end-to-end ownership model, I would like to contribute more actively to the Open edX community through development, reviews, issue investigation, and long-term repository support.

Contribution History

I have contributed across multiple enterprise and Open edX-related initiatives including:

  • Enterprise checkout enhancements

  • Catalog discovery and API integration improvements

  • Frontend and backend bug fixes

  • Platform issue analysis and debugging

  • Repository support and PR collaboration across enterprise workflows

  • Contributions supporting enterprise service integrations and platform modernization efforts

I have also participated in code reviews, technical discussions, ticket investigations, and implementation efforts supporting both internal teams and broader platform initiatives.

Cross-Repository Experience

Within a short period I have contributed meaningfully across:

  • edx-enterprise

  • edx-enterprise-data

  • enterprise-catalog

  • enterprise-access

This breadth has given me a strong understanding of system boundaries, integration patterns, and the dependencies between enterprise services.

Commitment to Contribution

I plan to continue actively contributing to the Open edX ecosystem through:

  • Pull request reviews

  • Community collaboration and discussions

  • Bug fixes and feature enhancements

  • Repository maintenance and support

  • Sharing knowledge and supporting engineering best practices

Rationale for Expansion

The Enterprise team is becoming increasingly involved in Open edX platform ownership and maintenance. Core Contributor status would help reduce dependency on US-based review cycles, improve delivery efficiency, and allow our team to contribute more effectively to repositories we actively maintain and support.

I’m committed to maintaining code quality, collaborating openly with the community, and contributing consistently over time.

I am seeking feedback over the next two weeks, with the comment period ending on May 29, 2026. Thank you everyone for your time, feedback, and support.

Hi! Could you kindly read through OEP-54: Core Contributors — Open edX Proposals 1.0 documentation and update your nomination according to the guidelines? Particularly, you haven’t provided any links to merged PRs or specified what repo(s) you’re interested in becoming a CC to. Looking throughout this forum for other examples of successful nomination posts would be helpful.
