Help me decide over other LMS eg. Canvas

Hello,
I am an electrical engineering professor and i run a bunch of training modules in semiconductor area for graduate students.
I am looking to install a LMS and run my trainings through it for efficiency, scalability and also better learning experience for students.
I am trying to figure out which LMS would be a good choice for me. With searching around, Canvas LMS seems to be a popular one.
I am little biased towards open Edx because i have used edX for a long time and i do like it.
Here are some points to consider:

  • Graduate engineering material
  • interactive videos as part of the assesment
  • very good assesment capability
  • procturing capability
  • good community support
  • open source
  • Ease of install, setup, maintenance and use

Keeping the above in mind, if someone can suggest me if open EdX is a great option or not, that will be really helpful.
Also, i have noticed some layoffs in the contributing org is that something i need to worry about ?

Thank you very much.

Hello Professor!

Good day! Considering your specific needs, open edX seems like a great option for several reasons:

Graduate Engineering Material: Open edX is highly customizable and can accommodate complex engineering materials.

Interactive Videos and Assessment: Open edX offers assessment capabilities and supports interactive elements within videos, enhancing engagement and learning outcomes.

Proctoring Capability: Proctoring features are available in open edX through third-party integrations.

Community Support: Open edX has a vibrant community of educators and developers who actively contribute to its improvement and provides ample support and resources for users.

Open Source: As an open-source platform, open edX offers flexibility for customization and integration with other tools or systems you may need.

Ease of Install, Setup, Maintenance, and Use: While open edX may require some initial setup, once configured, it offers a user-friendly interface for both instructors and students. Additionally, various hosting options and support services are available to assist with installation and maintenance.
