Improvements to the CC Checkins

Hi CCs!

I wanted to let you all know that we’ve rolled out several improvements to the CC sprint checklist in Listaflow, per the improvement proposal spearheaded by @feanil .

The first is that the question of hours has been removed (for everyone but OpenCraft team members) since keeping track of commitments will be handled by the CC Program Admins. If you would like to keep this question for you or your team, please let me know and I can re-enable it for you.

The next improvement is that the question list has been pared down to three questions:

  1. How did you feel during the last sprint? (rating scale)
  2. What/who are you proud of? Is there work you would like to celebrate? (Freeform answer)
  3. Is there anything you are stuck on, seeking help on, or seeking input on? (Freeform answer)

All questions are optional, save for the hours question given to OpenCraft team members.

We believe you will find this shortened check-in much more useful, both as someone filling it in, and as a team looking over the results.

If even after these changes, you discover that the Listaflow checkins do not help you, or you’d just prefer to keep track of reminders for them in your own calendar software instead of email, you can now unsubscribe from notifications. Just go to one of your checklists and click the ‘Unsubscribe’ button in the sidebar.

Additionally, if you happen to like Listaflow and find it helpful, please let me and @Cassie know! We’re trying to find more collaborators on it, and use it internally at OpenCraft for keeping track of all sorts of checklist-based processes, such as vacations, post-deployment verification of instances, our own sprint planning, and other things. We find it very helpful for coordinating our work as an all-remote team, and hope you do too!

Thanks, @Fox_Piacenti!

We have another update to share: the Core Contributor Check-in and Contributors Meetup Async Update will now be merged into a single, consolidated report. You can find the full Discovery proposal and the new template here.

You can expect the report every two weeks from @Natalia_Choconta, and it will include things like:

  1. :megaphone: Requests for help or input, progress updates, and notable achievements from members of the CC community. Be sure to fill out the Listaflow form if you’d like your information included.

  2. :counterclockwise_arrows_button: A list of PRs that need attention or are awaiting feedback.

  3. :memo: A very brief summary of the latest developments from each working group.

  4. :date: A roundup of key events in the Open edX community to keep on your radar.

As Fox mentioned, if you’re looking for an efficient way to manage checklists, check out Listaflow. We’re seeking collaborators! The platform has been a great tool for our team to manage recurring tasks, track progress, and streamline project management, making it easier to stay organized and productive.
