Theme customization based on Indigo (with customizations to MFE as well)

Hello,

Does anyone have any examples of where they forked the indigo theme, but also forked the MFE branding repos and add that in via patches so the changes would take place?

I have tried forking and renaming the plugin but I usually run into a git merge conflict every time there is a new release, and it is becoming quite the chore to upgrade so looking to the masses to see what the best practices might be?

We like the look of Indigo, so thinking we would use the former, but edly.io ones don’t appear to be maintained anymore, the default branches being updated 1-2 years ago.

The biggest changes we want to make are colors, logo, and in the footers of the MFE the “All Rights Reserved.” text since we license them by “CC-BY-NC-SA”.

I did come across GitHub - aulasneo/tutor-contrib-branding but there seems like there would be a lot of additional work to make that work with Indigo and that they are mutually exclusive.

I’m also interested in this question. I considered there would be merge conflicts if I fetched updates, but I didn’t think there would be a lot of them. My strategy would be fetching updates periodically. Maybe 4 times a year in a quarterly effort to keep the theme up to date. I wouldn’t be making big changes either.
