๐Ÿšจ Call for Help: ๐Ÿš€ Join the BTR Working Group for the Teak Release and Beyond! ๐Ÿš€

As we gear up for the upcoming Teak release :deciduous_tree:, we are actively looking to fill several key roles within the BTR Working Group. In line with our commitment to fresh perspectives and to prevent burnout, we aim to rotate these critical positions. This is your chance to contribute to the Open edX community by stepping into one of these important roles! Hereโ€™s a brief overview of the open positions:

  • :office_worker: Group Chair
    Currently held by @jalondonot
The Group Chair coordinates the groupโ€™s efforts, ensuring we stay on track with release milestones and successfully maintain the current release.
  • :scissors: Release Manager
    Currently held by @farhaanbukhsh
Responsible for cutting a new release by following the steps in the official Open edX release process.
  • :test_tube: Release Testing Coordinator
    Currently held by @Andres.Aulasneo
Oversees the testing of release candidates before theyโ€™re published. Testing support will be provided by the Product Working Group, so you wonโ€™t be alone!
  • :page_facing_up: Release Documentation Expert
    Currently held by @feoh
Compiles important release-related info and crafts the Release Notes to accompany the major release.
  • :wrench: Bug Triager(s)
    Currently held by @mgmdi @aperrupato @magajh @Donato_Bracuto
Help prioritize and fix bugs. Youโ€™ll be working as part of the bug triaging team, so support is always available!
  • :shield: Security Patcher
    Currently held by @magajh
Collaborates with the Security Working Group to address any security issues and ensure the release remains secure.
  • :counterclockwise_arrows_button: Product Liaison
    Currently held by @Chelsea_Rathbun
The Product Liaison connects the Product Working Group and BTR, ensuring clear communication on new features and default settings. They help ensure new features have tests and support regression test improvements, working closely with the Testing Coordinator.

:hourglass_not_done: With Teak just around the corner, we hope to fill these positions as soon as possible. Donโ€™t worryโ€”there will be a knowledge transfer process, and the current role holders will provide support during the transition to ensure everything runs smoothly.

:white_check_mark: If you already volunteered for a role or wish to continue in the same role, please confirm your participation so we can start preparing for Teak!

:raising_hands: We need your help to make the Teak release a success! If you have any questions about the roles or want to get involved, please reach out! Your contributions are crucial to the community, and weโ€™re excited to have you on board!

Thank you to all the volunteers! :dancing_penguin:

We still need a Release Testing Coordinator and Security Patcher :eyes:

:test_tube:The release testing coordinator is crucial to the release process, ensuring candidates are tested before a tag is made. You wonโ€™t have to run tests yourself, but youโ€™ll coordinate the process. Youโ€™ll have full support from the current coordinator and the BTR Working Group for a smooth transition!

:shield:The security patcher will also have full support from the BTR Working Group!

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the community and play a key role in the release process. If youโ€™re interested, let us know!

Happy to volunteer as a release tester.
