Hello Open edX
I am once again reaching to you for the nomination of a new coding core contributor and Open edX maintainer. Today, it is my pleasure to nominate @Taimur_Ahmed.
You might not know Taimoor so well, but he is one of the popular people here at Edly. He was previously project lead of the Edly SaaS platform, where he made extensive changes to edx-platform, ecommerce, course-discovery and the credentials app. In particular, he has worked on a series of custom XBlocks and he has integrated both authorize.net and CowPay as payment gateways in the Ecommerce stack.
More recently, Taimoor’s work has been instrumental in creating the openedx/forum app, which will replace cs_comments_service in Sumac. He is the one who implemented the storage backend-switching mechanism, to allow users to choose between MySQL and MongoDB, as well as the data migration scripts. In this project, I have come to greatly appreciate Taimoor’s technical abilities, communication abilities and his attention to details.
I am eager to see Taimoor contribute to other repositories. In the meantime, and until he builds enough commit history, we are proposing that he becomes a maintainer of the following repositories:
- openedx/forum: where he will work with @Ali_Salman29 (nominated here) to maintain the new forum app.
- openedx/course-discovery: where he will help fulfill the ongoing deprecation process and contribute replacement APIs in edx-platform (or elsewhere).
The comment period will last until November 29th. For this to pass, Taimoor needs 5 positive votes and no unaddressed concerns.
