We are a few days from creating Juniper master branches

We are just a few days away from creating the Juniper release branches (open-release/juniper.master) in the relevant repos. Up until now, and still for a few days, everything being committed to master is part of Juniper. Once the Juniper branches are created, changes will have to be cherry-picked to be part of Juniper.

The open issues for Juniper are here: https://openedx.atlassian.net/secure/RapidBoard.jspa?rapidView=626 Anything you can do to help pinpoint or fix a problem is greatly appreciated.

If you want to know more, we have an FAQ about the Open edX releases. Please reach out if you have any questions.

:tada: Woo hoo! Thanks for the update, and for getting us to this point @nedbat!

Great!

Checking here https://openedx.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMM/pages/940048716/Juniper - I assume Juniper will fully support Ubuntu 16.04, and the newer LTSs of Ubuntu 18.04, and Ubuntu 20.04?

Docker and old VM based solutions are really inconvenient to maintain :\ - I’ve got some ideas about replacing the configuration repository, but really need support for newer Ubuntu versions to make them possible.

Juniper is supported on 16.04 only. Did you see something on that wiki page that implied that 18.04 and 20.04 would be supported?

We are planning to upgrade the OS this summer, and Koa (the release after Juniper) will be on the upgraded version.

Exciting news! :confetti_ball:
