Core Contributor Nomination: Diana Villalvazo

Hi everyone!

I’d like to nominate @DianaVillalvazo for a Core Contributor role as a Code Contributor to the following repositories:

All MFE (frontend-app-*) repos

Note: Currently we have the group committers-frontend-apps, which contains all `frontend-app-*` repos, plus a few others (like header, footer, and platform); as part of this nomination we will update this group to remove all repositories from this group that aren’t a frontend app/MFE.

Commitment: Diana, a member of the WGU team, has been focused exclusively on the Open edX project since April and will be contributing full-time to the Open edX project. She began by picking up smaller bugs and is now participating in community efforts such as deprecation WG and the MFE conversion of the catalog pages.

Calibur: In that time she’s made 55 pull requests to various frontend repositories, including spearheading a wide-ranging effort to deprecate React unit test utils. Her code is consistently of high quality, for example:

Due to her focus on deprecation work across multiple frontend repositories, we feel she would be well situated to be a committer for all frontend repositories.

Conduct: Diana is a prolific code reviewer (she’s been involved in over 100 PRs). She consistently provides constructive feedback in a helpful and respectful manner. For example, Course catalog MFE review (one of 7), or this other one in the same repository.

She’s created over 100 issues on Open edX repos, many of which are carefully breaking down and scoping the react unit test utils deprecation effort. Her ability to break down complex problems into bite-sized, well-documented pieces are an asset to the project.

Comment Period: Please provide comments/feedback on Diana’s nomination before Monday, August 18. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to support this nomination however I can!

+1 from me!

I’m always happy to see a PR Diana has reviewed in my request queue. When that happens I know it means the PR will have gotten thoughtful and constructive feedback (example)!

Working with Diana to get a PR across the line is also a wonderful experience. She’s always more than happy to answer any questions I have. She also very clearly cares about making sure we land code that solves problems effectively, is easy to understand and maintain, and fits in with both current and future architectural designs.

I have no doubt that we have more great work to look forward to with Diana as a CC!

Wonderful. Although I have not worked with Diana directly, her trail of reported issues and PRs speaks for itself about the 3 Cs.
I vote yes.

I’ve been reviewing Diana’s PRs to the frontend (including some of the ones linked in the nomination), and am 100% on board with this nomination. She’ll make a great contributor, but perhaps most importantly, she’ll make a great reviewer. Excited to have her come onboard!
