I’d like to nominate @Mahnoor_Sarwat for a Core Contributor role as Product Manager. Over the past few months, I’ve loved working with her on a few community projects and product initiatives, she’s brought clarity, warmth, and momentum to every one of them.
Commitment: Mahnoor has been at the heart of several key community initiatives, including:
Co-leading the Product Review Process Workshop with me at the 2025 Open edX Conference, helping rethink how proposals move through our community and reduce bottlenecks. See the new process launched last week!
Supporting Axim’s ongoing work to revamp the Open edX website to make it more community- and product-centered.
Working with Eden and others to align feedback from sales and providers to inform the Open edX product roadmap.
Conduct: Mahnoor leads with kindness, clarity and a collaborative energy. She listens deeply, connects ideas across teams, and makes you feel heard. She’s a consistent voice in various community Working Groups.
Caliber: In just one year, Mahnoor’s already made a real mark on the Open edX product landscape:
Helped bring Tutor Deck to life, making it easier for instance admins to discover, install, and manage plugins.
Presented on Tutor Deck at a community meetup and shared her vision for a more intuitive Django Admin at the Open edX Conference, making advanced functionality more accessible to non-technical roles.
I’m really excited to see what she’ll continue to build (and inspire) from here. The voting period will stay open for two weeks from today, in line with OEP-54.

This nomination gets a big from me! @Mahnoor_Sarwat may be relatively new to the community, but her involvement across so many initiatives makes it feel like she’s been contributing for much longer. She’s an excellent communicator and would be a fantastic addition to the community as a Core Contributor.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with @Mahnoor_Sarwat across different working groups, whether in business development, marketing, initiatives, or during conferences. Mahnoor dedicated passion for Open edX, her strong professional profile, and her commitment to being elected into the core-contribution program are qualities I fully support with a resounding 100% yes.
The Open edX community needs profiles like you: engaged, capable, and genuinely invested. Dear @Mahnoor_Sarwat are a true asset to this program.
If anything I’m surprised @Mahnoor_Sarwat doesn’t already have this designation, I simply assumed it was true based on the evidence - frequent and critical contributions, coordination, and more in the product and other working groups.

We’ve been working together on the Distinguished Contributors program, and I’ve seen how much she cares about the community. She always brings helpful ideas, she always is happy to help (thank you, Mahnoor, for the meeting we had about the Marketplace, your explanation really helped me understand it).
